The role of the Governing Body

To ensure a clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.

To hold the Executive Leaders to account for the educational performance of the school and it's pupils and the performance management of staff.

To oversee the financial performances of the school and ensure it's money is well spent.

Who can attend meetings of the Governing Body?
Parents and other members of the public are welcome to attend by prior arrangement with the Chair of Governors. However, where confidential matters are to be discussed, visitors will be asked to leave the meeting.

How do I become a Governor?
Governors usually serve a 4 year term of office. From time to time, vacancies occur for Parent Governors on the governing body. Parents/Carers will be informed of such vacancies and nominations will be sought. However, should you wish to become a governor for any other school, you should contact the Governor Services department of the local authority; details of who to contact can be provided at the School Office.
Why should I consider becoming a Governor?
Education is one of the most important services that we can provide to our community. Our aim is to equip children with the skills and knowledge they need to become effective members of society as well as to enjoy life to the full. By becoming a Governor, you will be able to play an active role in influencing how the school can best serve the local community and, in particular, the children who live there.
