Our SEN approach
At Ince CE Primary School we have high aspirations for all our children and have developed a broad and balanced curriculum that is stimulating and engaging for all groups of learners. We follow a graduated approach to SEND, adapting our provision to meet pupils’ needs and removing barriers to learning and participation.
There are three stages, known as ‘waves’, that outline the provision that we provide for pupils with SEND:
Wave 1: Quality first teaching ensures that children access high quality, inclusive teaching that is adapted and personalised according to need.
Wave 2: Some children will need additional support to help accelerate their progress. This may be in the form of a targeted intervention provided by a teacher or teaching assistant.
Wave 3: This is the highest level of support available within a mainstream school, involving more intensive support, for example through highly-personalised provision. This may also include specialist interventions and/or advice from external agencies.
If you have any concerns about your child’s progress, please speak to your child’s teacher and/or the SENDCO.
Our SEN Policy can be found on our Policies page.
